- Come up with a lesson idea for a target audience of your choice for any on of these five recent subject matters: photography, scanography, sound, video, or stop-motion animation. Make your pick and post the outcome on your blog.
- Title:
What is sound?
- Activity:
Students will ask to create a sound using given materials and use the recorder to record the result.
- Objective:
The student will learn sound is everywhere and every object could make a sound. When two objects come together, the sound is created. By trying the different combination, students should explore the possibility of the sound.
- Materials:
Can, Cartoon, Pencil, Straw, Paper, Sticks, Plastic bags
- Procedure for implementation
a. Giving an example of sound. Let the students hear different types of sound. Such as environmentally sound, music instrument, singing, sound from nature etc.
b. Introduce the topic, which is everyone is the musician-artist today. Each of the student group should come up with one sound piece by using the given material.
c. play with the materials a little bit, collaborate with your group and do a rehearsal.
d. After 15 minutes of practice, the teacher comes around and given the recorder.
e. Collecting the result, and lets each group share their story behind this creation. What is this sound tells us?

- While you create your stop motion animation, document your process. Take pictures of all steps involved so that you (or anybody else) can reproduce what you did at any given time in the future. Post your documentation on your blog. Add as much description as necessary.
Recently, I'm working on a Chinese Character project and decide to do a mascot out of this Chinese characters
I chose a few of them and do a scrawl for a brainstorm.
I love the one more like robotic, and then I re-design in different ways.
Here is my 5.
I feel it is a little bit boring without color and I want to do it more traditionally. I start use watercolor to do a experimenting.
And then, I choose the best one for the animation.
They are roughly about the same size.
I begin to do my first tracing. I keep all the line same with the initial one. I only change the left arm for a movement.
And then, I put my paper on the top of the 2nd drawing and doing the same process as the previous one.
Here is my third drawing, the arm is slightly rising.
Here is my nine drawings.

I marked each drawing with a number.
Then I took a photo of each drawings and upload into GIPHY.
I uploaded them in the right sequence and then uploaded again with reverse sequence.
After I uploaded my drawings, I try in different effect to create a fancy look.
After I decided which look I want, I named the project and copy the embed link.

- 2) Create a blog post in which you reflect on your observations on sound in your life, in the arts, and in the curriculum. What have you noticed, what do you observe?
The sound is a tricky medium. You hear sounds every day and every moment. Even in the quiet night and a quiet room, you definitely can hear something. If you cannot hear any sound you then had a trouble. Everyone has the ability to hear the sounds of the air.
Sometime, when sound over in certain HB, it makes people annoyed. I was angry one of the date sit in the library and people sit in front me are talking. Their conversation and voice level are excess my person HB at this stage. Every morning I wake up, I play the high rhythm music to wake my self up. Sometimes in the tired afternoon, I will do so. The sound of fire alarm out of battery make me crazy every day, yet, I am used to it and it cannot affect me anymore. If people working in a high noise environment, they will be used to it and did not realize the voice level until they stay in a completely different environment. Ear-like eys, they are trained every day.

- 1) Creative assignment: Walk around and listen in your environment for sounds. Record 3-4 sounds to use as material for a composition (you should be able to use your smart phone as a recorder, or any other recording device; there are free apps such as Voice Record Pro or Voice Recorder that you can use along with your phone). As you consider combining these sounds, create one more sound and record it. This can come from any instrument that you choose (an object, your body, your voice, etc.). Use audacity (free download) to compose, combine, layer, and manipulate these sounds. Share the outcome by uploading the file to Soundcloud and copy the code onto your blog. Add a title to your piece and a description (50-100 words) about the process. Feel free to team up with a class mate to do this; if you do that, please describe the different roles you had in the creation of the piece.
The Sound in the October Air
I took the sound while I was walking.
I sit in the library, and I listened.
I walked downstairs, and I listened.
I took the night bus, and I listened.
It is a fun exercise to train you to be aware of your environment. The process is simple. You only need to hear and click 'record' to memorize the sounds at this moment.
In the Audacity, I manipulated those sounds in different layers. I was trying to speed up and increase the HB. Also, I map out the order of the sounds and try to come up a story within 30 seconds.

2. Describe the creative potential of video and what it can do for art classrooms or education in general (2 paragraphs).
As they grow up, making a video becomes more meaningful for art class in High school. At this stage, students begin to learn and experiment their leadership, and cooperating skill and video class help students to practice those skills. In the process of making video, students begin to share their ideas in group. They can learn from each other. They can explore to look at the world in different ways. A video making could require narrative storytelling skills. It is a very concise medium to interpret their thoughts into moving images. It is a medium that doesn’t need a student with great drawing or painting skill and can fulfil their interests by exploring the world via visual art. Students have to learn how to maximize their ability in a team. At the same time, teachers need to make sure that every student has the equal chance to let students present the best of themselves through the process.
I would like to argue that video is too challenging for the Elementary school students to have in their art class. First, making video mostly requires a group of people getting involved. It is about teamwork. At this stage, students have not fully developed the ability of cooperation and team management. Even in the lower grade, they are still learning about how to share. Second, the process of making the video also require to relate technique knowledge, like operating camera, sound equipment etc.
However, as the new technology being developed, the elementary student can use iPad for the video class. It allows student not to learn the process of operating the camera and able to use this medium directly. In this process, it can involve in a group or working as an individual. Shooting could be a really easy and fun process as this age.

Share 3 take-aways from the section-readings on your blog.
- In New Literacies and social practices of digital remixing, it provided really interest point of view of cultural remixing and developing in contemporary. I believe that remixing create more possibility. The process of remixing upgrade our living experiences in which it shows the improvement of new technology. Such as the use of Photoshop, the audacity, and API. We are now in the digital age, and remixing through technology is convince and it speeds up the process of telling the possibilities.
- In The New Digital Arts: Forms, Tools, and Practices, it discussing how low cost could produce high-efficiency work through making digital. As the new technology creating speedy up in recent years, we have so many tools can create any type of art. The technology also makes our life easier to create art. People do not need to be professional in order to create art. The new technology provides the new way of thinking and sharing ideas, where we can learne cross-state and even country.
- The Digital Storytelling Guide for Educators, written by Midge Frazael, he gives more specific examples of the use of digital to create artwork. Since that tool is digital, it can not take over by humans job---the creativity. Digital tool i the tool only help to open the mind art explore other possibility.
5/2 potential of scanography for art-making
Write a short paragraph about the potential of scanography for art-making OR classroom teaching.
- Scanography is a very special process of making art. It's a type of medium engage with arrangement and movement. By arrangement, children in the art-making involve the process of thinking the placement of different materials and choice of the materials to doing the art. It is the process of engaging the interpretation of the different object. The creation of scenography gives children the chance to talk about the identity and the story behind their subject of creation. By movement, children could experiment with different gestures to create various kinds of shape and effect. The movement of the body is also the way to stimulate the brain to do more and more unpredictable and creative artwork. Collaboration also could involve in this activity, in which children can bring their own story to share one image and create a fantastic collision within one artwork. It is the process for younger kids to learn to share within artmaking. Moreover, pornography is the way to let children figure out the mirror effect and help them to understand optical.

4/3 Photography connections to children
Think about digital photography as a medium, about its materiality and process, and in which way it lends itself to art-making and/or education. Make three connections to children.
1. Digital Photography has so many possibilities of creation and recreation. After taking a photograph, children could be involved in a process of analysing the content. Through interpreting what they saw, it helps children developing the analysis skill and description skill, in which help them in writing as well.
2. In the process of taking photos, children have to pay attention to what they are going to take. This process pushes them to be aware of every object inside their view and help them pay attention to details. It could be a process of training concentration.
3. Digital Photography as a medium, it is not 100% of the reality. This is the medium that force the children to learn how to be critical on things they learn and experience. It gives the children the chance to examine everything in their life. This is critical analysis skill as well.
4/2 Impact 25
Share the current status of your Impact25work. Include a preliminary sketch or image. Point out with whom you collaborate. Reminder: the final outcome of this collaborative project is due in week 7 (Oct 17).
In Impact 25, I'm collaborative with Cloudia. We have met on 9/25 and trying to do a project related to new technology and/or environment issues. On this Friday, we are planning to do our 1st experiment on this project to see if it will come up well.

In our impact 25, we are planning to do an object exchange performance. In this performance, we will start with our own object. This is the object that we think it has great potential to be changed by technology in the next decade. It can be anything. A pencil, a plastic bag, a folk, an iPad, a flower. We are planning to do this performance around the library cafe and the lobby. We will ask the participant the question, 'Can you exchange with me what you think will be changed by technology in the next decade?' and 'what do you think the object will change?'. During the process, we will use the Instagram LIVE to record the whole process. Also, we ask the participants to post their exchanged object in their Instagram with #thiswillbeamagicaltechnology(This will be a magical technology). On the other hand, if the participants want to find their object back, they can search #thiswillbeamagicaltechnology in the Instagram and make a contact with that person.

Come up with two interesting ideas about what you would like to do with the image you took in class and where you would like to go from here, creatively/artistically. Post your image and describe both ideas. Part 2: Seek feedback from one person (either a classmate or somebody else) and pursue one of these two ideas. Document the outcome on your blog.
Part 1:
1st idea - Music Video
This photo is not a regular size of the photo. It looks like a skinny organism for me. I would like to use this chance to create a dance with a narrative with this photograph. First, I will give it the name---CiCi. Then, I will try to find a famous music combine with slow and quick paste in the song. After that, I will give a life to Cici by using after effect. As the outcome, Cici can bend, twist, jump, run and etc so it will dance perfectly with the music.
2nd idea - poster
Since this is photo is crop in the certain portion after taken. I would like to continue with the cropping and do more details cutting and rearrange the images. I also think about cropping one part inside this image and place in the other image to see if the audience can find it. The object inside this photo just let me think about Guan Xiao's video--David(2013). In this piece of work, she leads me to think about the copy and paste of one famous artwork and how it have been used in our life. I believe this column also is the copy of a famous column and resizing to fit the building. I would like to discuss how classical art have been using in modern days.
Part 2: Feedback
I got feedback from my friends working in the film industry. He said the first idea is unpractical and the second idea sounds interesting and make a conversation with David (2013). However, he said the second idea did not explain well and need to focus on just one point.
Part 3 Her is my Outcome
