Share two takeaways from the readings for our next section (Section III)

NEW MEDIA ARTS, THE DO-IT-YOURSELF MOVEMENT, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING by Kelley Peppler

In this chapter, Peppler discussing the use of creative coding in the class. The computer program is not complicate at all in this era. Such as the program called Scratch, it is very simple to use for the kids to do the programming. In this programme, it has designed function and it is an easy step to design their own game.  Design their own game, in fact, it is a challenge. On the other hand, kids loving play game than study because the game gives them challenges gradually. The designing game challenges them to think and reflect. In some country and school, the coding program has involved in the elemtray school learning. In the other case, the coding process is simlyied. Chilren do not have to know all the knowelge in order to do the creative coding. They only need to know the function such as they know how to use watercolor. The era is chagning, and the develpe of the art is changing. The introduce of new technogy use in art is imporant. Peppler also mentioned that using the coding artful could shift from the idea of killing or finghting in the traditional design into the morality and cultural aspect. This chapter also mention about that kids more involve in the art, they are getting succussfully in the college study. Art, on the other hand, helps to shape the personality.

Invest to learn, Chapter 6 Making Today, S.Martinez., G. Stager.

In this chapter, it discusses the maker movement. It indicates the ideal form the reusing materials. It also brings up that the traditional art materials should co-exist with the digital tool. Although this transformation could not offer the texture as the materials itself will give to children. However, I would argue that the digital tool creates more possilibty. Children could easily to get the effect they want instead of trying so many times to get the result or giving up in the between process. We cannot deny the technology influenced the new generate's growing. Those children loves to play with the technolgy product and as an educator, and educator should bring children' interst into a further direction. We should push the boundary.

The other benefit to working with the digital tool is created impossible things possible. Such as for the ceramic class, students can glaze with the digital tool and avoide the use of the chemical. It also brings up the result faster then you do a actucal one. It also can be useful for the cominbation of the use of materils. While chilrdren doing testing on the materisl, they can doing easily on the digital tool, which they can easse quickly and get appoarch to their ideal form. Also, this chapter talks about 'Using familiar materials to learn unfmriali thigns. ' I will say the making process is very important. Children have to make by itself and emphaiss on the process of exploration in order to get into the innovation.
