1) Share 2 takeaways from the readings (Section IV: ReadingsNMNF#4.pdf and ReadingsNMNF#5.pdf) on your blog. Reflect in a few sentences on the role that making, tinkering, and electronics can bring to an art classroom (or any classroom, if you prefer). 



In Digital Fabrication and 'Making' in Education: The Democratization of Invention (2013), Blikstein gives four examples of fabrication class. In those classes, teachers gave different instruction to help the student better understand the Fabrication. Fabrication is all new to our generation and also to the young generation. Children always scare about to learn new things. As the teacher, we have to give clear instruction to children and guide through their interest. However, we should not make the task too easy. As guide student to feel comfortable, we also need to give student challenge at the same time. As Blikstein said: ' the real power of any technology is ...in the new ways of personal expression it enables, the new forms of human interaction it facilitates, and the powerful ideas it makes accessible to children.'


In Invent to learn (2013), Libow and Stager mentioned that school should give a chance to the student to express what they have learned in the other subject. The strategy of teaching new technology should be learner-centered. The student must have a chance to solve a problem that means for them. As Blikstein (2013) also mentioned in one of the classes of fabrication, a group of children are trying to use what they learned, the gravity and speed, and try to make a rollercoaster. They failed, but they are keep testing about what they learned and make the rollercoaster working. Going back to the history of education, the form of the kindergarten is the ideas that promote children should have the chance to 'learn from nature, play, and observing the world. ' It also applies to learn the new technology, which it should be attracting to children to learn and reflect and use what have learned.

Making, thinking, and electronics could bring a diverse learning environment. We have electronic everywhere in the nowadays society.  The role of making electronics should apply to any subject which is the practice of what has talked about in the textbook. For art classroom, making is one of the essences. Thinking through making should be considered by every artist. By adding the electronic into the art, the class will bring the student close to their life. Electric is the types of contemporary art. Therefore, by doing an electronic project, it helps the teacher to introduce a new present material and the diverse possibility of the art making.
